MILAN - A disappointed Javier Zanetti spoke on Inter Channel after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Palermo.
"We could have scored more in the first half and in the second half we controlled the game until Palermo’s goal," he said. "Our opponents did well to take advantage of their chances and our carelessness. But there are seven matches left and each point is important, including this point.
"Now we will wait for Juventus’ result, knowing that Inter will remain on top with a seven-point lead even if they win. We have to continue to think about ourselves.
"We usually manage to score and bring home the result in the last quarter of an hour but we didn’t create enough to win the match today."
Zanetti thanked the fans, who cheered on the Nerazzurri until the final minute against Palermo. "The crowd was great today," he said. "Let’s hope it’s the same in the next matches."
UDINE - Inter captain Javier Zanetti started in midfield and finished at right-back in Sunday’s win over Udinese.
"I’m used to tactical changes and I’m happy to be important and always useful to the team," he told Inter Channel.
"Today it was fundamental to take advantage of Juventus’ draw. We were focused and we won against Udinese who showed tonight that they are a great team. They did well and made us suffer.
"We took our chances tonight, now we have to think about winning our matches so that everything depends on us only. Juve will believe in the Scudetto until it’s mathematically impossible, but we just have to think about ourselves."
Zanetti played from start to finish in Udine after playing for his national team in the recent World Cup qualifiers. "I came from a very long trip back but I didn’t feel the tiredness of the match," he said. "I think I did well."
